SANTO TOMAS CITY, Batangas – Authorities reported that a five-year-old girl who went Christmas caroling on Friday, Dec. 19, was allegedly assaulted by two men under the influence of illegal drugs. Her body was later found inside a sack dumped on a roadside in Barangay Santa Maria, this city.

Police identified the victim as Nene. Her body was discovered by a resident.

The victim was last seen alive on Friday while Christmas caroling. She failed to return home and her family asked help from the barangay to locate her.

Police conducted a follow-up operation and closed-circuit television footage showed the victim entering the house of two men – Leo and Jay.

Leo was later on seen coming out of the house carrying a white sack, prompting police to take him in for questioning.

The suspect confessed that he and Jay raped and killed the victim while under the influence of illegal drugs. Authorities also seized six plastic sachets of suspected shabu from him.

Police said follow-up investigation is ongoing, and the two arrested suspects will face appropriate charges.

They also reminded parents not to let children go caroling alone.
