Regal Entertainment seems poised to hit the jackpot once again with “Shake Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins”. The film delivers everything that makes for a knockout MMFF entry: star power, franchise legacy, and enough jump scares to thrill both the young and the not-so-young.

The story unfolds in three chapters, guided by three of today’s top directors—Joey De Guzman, Ian Loreños, and Shugo Praico.
The first chapter is an origin story set in a colonial convent, where only the hottest nuns—Carla Abellana, Loisa Andalio, Ysabel Ortega, and Ashley Ortega—stand between evil and total destruction. Naturally, they prevail… but evil never stays down for long.

Fast-forward to 2025, and terror erupts at a neon-lit rave, featuring two of today’s hottest love teams: Seth Fedelin and Francine Diaz, and Fyang Smith and JM Ibarra, alongside rising stars Dylan Yturralde, Arkin Lagman, Althea Ablan, and Karina Bautista. This is the goriest chapter yet, powered by youthful energy and chaotic thrills.

The final chapter leaps into a dystopian future, where humans hide from aswangs feeding a centuries-old devilish entity — yes the same creature that caused havoc in that convent years past.
Leading this apocalyptic mayhem is the film’s biggest draw, Richard Gutierrez, ably supported by Dustin Yu and Matt Lozano.

And then there’s Ivana Alawi—Lara Croft-inspired, and sinfully delicious. Let’s just say her ample chest fully commands attention, practically demanding its own billing. If awards were given for unmissable body part, she’d take it home.
In short, “Shake Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins” is a deliciously chaotic, star-studded romp, proving that horror can be just as much about thrills as it is about seeing your favorite stars shine.
Visually striking, thrilling, and well-paced, “Evil Origins” perfectly balances scares, laughs, and irresistible star power.
