Comedian and actress Pokwang issued a public apology after a video showing a heated altercation between a pickup truck driver and a man pushing a kariton in Antipolo City went viral on social media.

The widely shared footage shows the man being slapped by the driver of the white pickup truck in Barangay San Roque, Tulay.

It was later confirmed that the driver was Pokwang’s brother.

In a recorded video posted on her social media accounts, Pokwang acknowledged her brother’s involvement and expressed remorse over the incident. Stressing that she does not tolerate violence, the comedienne clarified that family ties do not excuse wrongdoing.

“Paalala lang po, ang kasalanan po ni Pedro ay hindi pwedeng kasalanan ni Juan. Maaari pong iisa kami ng apelyido pero hindi po kami pareho ng pag-iisip at ng ginagawa araw-araw,” Pokwang said.

She also offered a direct apology to the man who was hurt and, most especially, to the child who witnessed the confrontation. Speaking as a mother, Pokwang acknowledged the emotional impact of the incident.

“Ako po ay humihingi ng dispensa doon sa kanyang nakaalitan, lalong-lalo na po doon sa anak na babae. Pasensya ka na iha… pasensya ka na,” she said.

Pokwang made it clear that she was not siding with her brother, adding, “Hindi po ako natutuwa at hindi ko dapat kampihan ang nangyari sa kapatid ko. Nanay din naman po ako.”

Addressing those who posted her family’s photos online, Pokwang reminded the public about the consequences of online harassment. “May tinatawag po tayong cyberbullying at cyber libel,” she stressed, urging more responsibility and compassion.
