BANGKOK, Thailand – The Philippine baseball team continued to stamp its class after manhandling Vietnam, 20-1 in the men’s team preliminary in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games at the Queen Sirikit Baseball Stadium on Tuesday, Dec. 9 here.
Just like in their previous matches, the Filipinos were simply head and shoulders above their foes as they rode on another scintillating start to set the tone for the rout.
The Nationals improved to a perfect 4-0 record after dominating Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
The PH batters opened the contest with six runs right in the first inning and kept the Singaporeans scoreless until the third frame.
That would be the first and the last time Singapore would score a run as the Filipinos pulled away for good, capped by a nine-run seventh inning.
Up next for the Nationals is host team Thailand, which according to reports received by the Philippine Olympic Committee, has fielded naturalized players.
The host team is also undefeated through three games and is currently playing Singapore as of press time.
