Actress-TV host Kim Chiu formally filed a criminal complaint for qualified theft against her sister, Lakambini Chiu, at the Department of Justice in Quezon City.
She described the decision “one of the most painful steps I have ever taken in my life.”
In her official statement, Kim said: “After careful consideration and months of internal review, I have made the difficult decision to file a legal case for qualified theft against my sister, Lakambini Chiu, in relation to serious financial discrepancies discovered within my business operations.”

She went on to explain the gravity of what prompted the complaint: “As many know, I built my business ventures — with hard work, passion, and trust in the people I love. Unfortunately, substantial amounts connected to my business assets were found missing. These discoveries forced me to take formal action to protect not just my company, but also the livelihoods of the people who work with me and the integrity of everything I have built.”
Lakam is still silent about the matter as of writing.
The case unsettles so many. The two were quite close prior, with Lakam handling everything relating to Kim, including projects in and out of show business.
Then a few months ago, Kim and Lakam unfollowed each other on social media.

Many wondered as to what led to the estrangement.
Now this.
According to a source, Kim and her lawyers tried to address privately, away from cameras and courtrooms. It was only when internal efforts failed did the matter become legal.
