Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray were among celebrities who bravely delivered a searing message against corruption during a protest at the People Power Monument on November 30.

Speaking before those gathered to commemorate Andres Bonifacio’s birthday, Gray articulated a frustration many feel but rarely hear. Billions of pesos, she warned, vanish without accountability—without justice, without answers.

What alarms her most is not only the theft, but the creeping fatigue that tempts people into silence.

“People aren’t quiet because they don’t care,” she said. “They’re quiet because they’re starting to believe change will never come.”

Gray challenged the nation’s leaders directly, condemning what she described as a deafening silence amid repeated scandals and disasters.

How many more, she asked, before the country finally says “enough”?

She pointed pointedly to irregularities in flood control projects, insisting that the current focus should widen into real accountability.

Gray demanded immediate action from institutions meant to uphold the law: cases filed by the ombudsman, the suspension of senators implicated in wrongdoing, and the long-delayed passage of an anti-political dynasty bill in Congress.

“Every time we stay quiet, corruption wins,” she said.

The protest was not confined to Quezon City. Similar rallies unfolded across the country, uniting civil society groups, artists, and ordinary citizens alarmed by what they see as unchecked graft.

Fellow public figures, including Elijah Canlas, Pokwang, and the band Ben&Ben, joined the call for reform.
