Boxing, 9 other SEAG events moved to Bangkok due to bad weather, flooding

A total of 10 events in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Songkhla, Thailand had been moved to the capital city of Bangkok, according to the organizing committee.

One of the supposed three hosts of the Games along with Bangkok and Chonburi, the southern province that also sits at the border with Malaysia has been experiencing flooding due to inclement weather that reportedly brought record rainfall in the region

A total of 10 events namely, boxing, pencak silat, men’s football, chess, judo, kabaddi karate, wrestling, petanque and wushu — all offering 109 medals – will now be held in Bangkok due to concerns over the state of competition venues in Song
Some athletes, including members of the Philippine contingent that had earlier flown to Songkhla for the final stretch of their preparations, have been affected.

The organizing committee though assured that the athletes are safe and they will be shouldering their travel expenses to Bangkok.
