University of Batangas and Immaculada Concepcion College flaunted their might once again and advanced to the finals for the second straight year in the PG Flex-UCAL Season 8 Volleyball Tournament on Friday at the Paco Arena in Manila.

The UB Brahmans banked heavily on their 1-2 punch in Aldrin Rosales and Prince Ramirez to outlast Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas, 25-15, 18-25, 25-19, 25-21, in their knockout semis duel and extend their amazing winning run to 8 games in the men’s division.

Overall, it was the 20thth straight win for the Brahmans since their mighty sweep of the title last year.

Rosales fired 14 points and Ramirez added 10 as the top-seeded Brahmans arranged a title rematch – a best-of- three series – with the ICC Blue Hawks starting on Tuesday, Nov. 25.

The Blue Hawks, on the other hand, drew 19 points from Aaron Devosoro19 to complete a dramatic 25-22, 19-25, 23-25, 26-16, 15-11 win over the Philippine Christian University-Dasmariñas Dolphins in a game highlighted by exciting rallies and booming spikes from both sides.

The women’s semis matches were as tense and fiery as the men’s action as reigning titlist ICC needed the heroics of Andrea Caparal to nip the UB Lady Brahmans, 24-26, 25-20, 25-20, 25-20, in a rematch of the last year’s finalists.

In the finals – also a best-of-three affair – the Lady Blue Hawks will face the PCU-D Lady Dolphins, who likewise pulled off a pulsating 25-17, 25-22, 17-25, 31-29 win over LPU-B.

Caparal was almost unstoppable with 20 points off 19 attacks and an ace in the event backed Akari, Advance Solutions Inc., Smart Sports, Spalding, Team Rebel Sports, Quintana Sports, Crane Faucet, Hapee Toothpaste, Jiang Nan Restaurant, Vital, TopFlite Academy, Maruyama, and Gerry’s Grill.
