Defending champions University of Batangas and Immaculada Concepcion College assured themselves of outright semis berths after downing their respective rivals in the men’s and women’s divisions of the 2025 PG Flex-UCAL Season 8 Volleyball Championships held recently at the UB Millennium Gym in Batangas City.

Drawing huge defensive effort from Christian Briones, the UB Brahmans demolished the Philippine Women’s University Patriots, 25-15, 25-17, 25-12, to stay undefeated through six games in the 8-school tournament.

UB’s 6th win in as many outings and 17th overall since last year’s grand title sweep was enough for the Brahmans to secure one of two automatic semis berths going into the final week of the elims.

Briones produced six blocks to finish with a game-high eight points, matching the effort of Godwin Balazon while Adrian Rosales added seven to make up for the quiet two-point performance of top gun Prince Ramirez.

The ICC Lady Blue Hawks likewise clinched the first semis berth after a 25-18, 26-24, 20-25, 25-15 win over a stubborn Lyceum of Batangas – thanks to the 13-point performance of JL Bravo that kept their pristine record intact.

Also in contention for the other outright Final Four berth in the men’s division is ICC with a 5-1 mark while Philippine Christian University-Dasmariñas is carrying a 3-2 record.

There are still three teams in the running for the second automatic slot in the distaff side with PCU-D holding a 5-1 card while LPU-B and Centro Escolar University toting similar 4-2 cards in the event backed by Akari, Smart Sports, Spalding, Hapee Toothpaste, Mighty Bond, Quintana Sports, Vital Purified Drinking Water, Topflite, Crane and Maruyama, CafeFrance and RC1 Lubricating Spray.

The third to sixth placers in both divisions after the elims will play in the knockout quarterfinal round with the No. 3 team taking on the No. 6 while the Nos. 4 and 5 teams clash for the other semis berth.
