Tensions flared outside the Office of the Ombudsman in Quezon City on Friday, November 7, as anti-corruption protesters clashed with police while attempting to enter the premises.

Militant groups staged a demonstration dubbed “Kalampagan sa Ombudsman Against Selective Justice”, demanding decisive action from Ombudsman Crispin Remulla against public officials allegedly involved in irregular flood control projects.

The protesters accused the agency of practicing selective justice in its handling of corruption cases.

The situation escalated when demonstrators tried to push past police barricades. Officers from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) intervened, resulting in a brief scuffle.

Riot police used shields to disperse the crowd and prevent entry into the compound. (Allysa Nievera)
