A 70-year-old household helper died after being struck multiple times with an electric grinder by her employer’s former caregiver during a heated altercation inside a residence in Barangay San Isidro, Taytay, Rizal, police reported on Monday, Oct. 27.

The suspect, a 45-year-old woman, was arrested in Rodriguez, Rizal, during a follow-up operation launched by the Taytay Municipal Police. She admitted to the crime, claiming she was provoked by the victim’s alleged insults about her family.

According to investigators, the two women were inside the employer’s house when a verbal dispute escalated into physical violence.

The suspect alleged that the victim first threw a glass and attempted to hit her with an electric grinder, prompting her to retaliate.

During police questioning, the caregiver said she was triggered by the hurtful remarks the victim made about her family.

Sobrang sakit naman po siyempre,” the suspect said.

Taytay Police Cpl. Daryll Jay Data, lead investigator, said the suspect struck the victim in the head with the grinder at least eight times, resulting in her immediate death.

The suspect is now facing homicide charges.
