Basilan forward Arwind Santos has already reached out to GenSan big man Tonton Bringas after the two figured in a physical altercation during Game 2 of their South Division quarterfinals in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League last Monday, Oct. 20.

Santos apologized for the incident that saw him punch Bringas to the face in retaliation and offered to help on the medical expenses of the latter.

The Warriors forward sustained an eyelid wound and doctors are looking at possible vision and nose injuries.

MPBL commissioner Kenneth Duremdes and player agent Danny Espiritu HAVE mediated in the talks between the two camps.

Santos in a message forwarded by Basilan team manager Bernard Yang said: “Only i can say is di na importante sa akin kung sino ang tama o mali, ang importante sakin kung ano gusto ng ating Panginoon at yun walang iba kundi ang magpakumbaba.”

Other angles of the incident, however, that made rounds in social media, show Bringas the first to hit Santos while jockeying for position before the latter retaliated with an apparent punch to the face.

Santos was ejected during the game which Basilan won 116-112 in double overtime to force a deciding Game 3.
