Carla Abellana looked radiant and glowing when she appeared at the announcement of the Final Four entries for the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival, held October 10 at the University of Makati.

Her latest film, “Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins” from Regal Entertainment, officially made it to the MMFF lineup.

But it wasn’t just horror that kept reporters on edge.

In a huddle, the actress found herself facing questions about her personal life, specifically the persistent buzz that she’s set to marry a doctor this coming December 27.

When asked how her heart is doing these days, Carla was all smiles.

“Of course! Ang dami kong aso. I finally moved into my dream house. Masaya ako, kasama ko ang family ko,” she said, brushing off the talk with poise.

That didn’t stop the questions however.

Prodded further if there’s a special someone making her extra happy, Carla didn’t deny but she didn’t confirm either.

“Sabi ko naman po, nagde-date po ako. So, hindi naman po iyan ano. Kumbaga, alam na po ng mga tao iyon,” she said with a knowing smile.

“Nabanggit ko na po sa mga interviews na nag-try na po akong mag-dating. Nakakailang date na po ako. So, masaya po ako. At least, nakakaya ko na po, na-e-explore ko na po yung ganu’ng side.”

Asked if she’ll be attending the MMFF Awards Night — which happens to be on December 27, the same day as her rumored wedding — Carla answered, “Aba, siyempre naman po! Bakit hindi?”

Then, with trademark mix of grace and wit, she addressed the speculation directly: “Kung totoo man po iyon o hindi, of course that’s part of my private life. I would like to keep it private. Sa dami naman po ng aking pinagdaanan na very publicized before, may choice naman po ako kung ilalabas ko po yun or hindi.”

And when pressed one last time on whether she’s engaged, Carla smiled and delivered the quote of the day:  “I invoke my right to self-incrimination. So I refuse to say yes, I refuse to say no.”

And that’s that.
