A Chinese electrician was rescued from his alleged captors after a fistfight led to the discovery of a robbery-extortion case in Barangay Dolores, Taytay, Rizal, on Wednesday, Oct. 8, according to the Taytay Municipal Police.

Barangay officials responded to a noise complaint from residents of a condominium building, who reported a disturbance involving two Chinese nationals and two Filipino men engaged in a fistfight in an adjacent room.

Authorities apprehended the individuals involved: alias Xiaofei, 41, an electrician; alias Koa, another Chinese national; and two Filipino men identified as Michael, a driver, and Jerson. All four were turned over to the Taytay Municipal Police Station.

During initial questioning at the station, Michael and Jerson claimed that the altercation was sparked by the Chinese men’s intoxication. Officers advised the group to rest temporarily at the station.

However, upon reviewing the building’s closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, police discovered that Xiaofei had been forcibly taken by Koa, Michael, and Jerson.

The trio allegedly used threats, intimidation, and physical force to extort money from Xiaofei in exchange for his vehicle and his personal documents.

The three suspects are currently detained at the Taytay police custodial as the investigation continues.

Two more Chinese nationals involved in the crime are still being hunted by the police.

The police said suspects may face charges of robbery-extortion. (Patrick Garcia)
