Jake Cuenca has finally spoken.

Calm, composed, and seemingly heartbreak-free (well, almost), the actor finally opened up on rumors that he and Chie Filomeno have gone their separate ways.

After weeks of speculation and social media sleuthing, Jake confirmed at a recent gathering what everyone’s been whispering about: Yes, that chapter is closed.

He said, “Ang daming nangyayari, ang daming sinasabi ng mga tao. But siguro I can officially say that chapter of my life is over now.”

But before anyone could say “breakup,” Jake was quick to clarify: There was no actual breakup.

“There wasn’t a breakup. There’s no breakup,” he said with a shrug, indicating that things simply ended between him and Chie with nary a discussion.

Why? Well, apparently, like most of us, he learned about Chie’s Cebu trips via gossip columns.

But he isn’t angry.

Jake maintained, “I love that person deeply. It was incredibly worth my time, but that chapter is over now.”

No tears, no drama, just a clean, quiet fade to black.

The actor admitted that while the past months have been emotionally heavy, he chose to deal with it privately, away from the noise of social media.

“Truthfully, I went through it by myself,” he shared. “I actually appreciated that part of my life because it was private. So I also grieved alone, and in private.”

That “privacy” didn’t stop the headlines, of course.

The buzz began when fans noticed that Jake and Chie had unfollowed each other on Instagram — followed by speculations linking the actress to Cebu-based businessman Matthew Lhuillier.

Chie later addressed the issue on her Instagram Stories, asking the public not to drag the Lhuillier family into the mess.

Jake, meanwhile, stayed silent… until now.

“I don’t enjoy this part of the industry,” he made clear. “Acting, that’s what I enjoy. Shooting, filming — that’s my passion. Talking about my personal life, this… this isn’t a comfortable place for me. To be honest, I just want to move on, and I wish everyone else would too.”

If there’s one thing that’s keeping him grounded, it’s work. Between “Batang Quiapo,” “What Lies Beneath,” and now “The Delivery Rider,” Jake has barely had time to process anything — not even heartbreak.

“These past few months haven’t been easy. I’ve been working six days a week. There’s no time to be Jake,” he admitted. “I go home, rest, then head straight to taping.”

Still, the actor takes pride in his professionalism.

“As difficult as things were, I had to keep it together,” he said. “You can’t bring your personal problems to work. You have to compartmentalize. In a weird way, that’s the reward — after 14 hours of shooting, that’s when you finally get to feel what you’re going through.”

Fans of the couple know this isn’t their first love story.

Jake once called Chie his TOTGA — the one that got away — after their first breakup. The two reunited in 2023, giving hope to shippers everywhere that love was sweeter the second time around.

Turns out, it was just another season — not the forever fans hoped for.

Still, Jake remains gracious and full of respect.

“If you love someone, you want them to have all the happiness in the world,” he said. “You want them to be happy.”

Now, with multiple projects lined up and his focus back on the grind, Jake says he’s simply moving forward — quietly, firmly, and without bitterness.
