College of Saint Benilde guns for a second round berth against University of Perpetual Help System Dalta as action in the 2025 Shakey’s Super League (SSL) Preseason Unity Cup resumes Sunday at the Paco Arena.
Opening serve is set at 10 a.m., kicking off the triple-header weekend playdate of the tournament, backed by Shakey’s Pizza Parlor, Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken, Potato Corner and R and B Milk Tea.
The Lady Blazers got off to a fiery start after an emphatic straight sets drubbing of San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 25-17, 25-20, 25-18, in Pool D last Friday.
CSB is tied with Ateneo de Manila University on the leaderboard and a win over the Lady Altas will propel the four-time NCAA champion into the next stage.
“Ganoon pa rin magtatrabaho pa rin. Ang importante ay lumabas ang laro and ma-execute yung ineensayo natin,” said Lady Blazers head coach Jerry Yee.
Zam Nolasco, who dropped all of her nine points in the opening set of the previous game, Shekaina Lleses, Camila Bartolome and Rhea Densing are again the focal point of CSB’s offense.
On the other hand, Perpetual seeks to rediscover its winning ways and boost its chances of advancing into the playoffs in its final preliminary round assignment in the competition, supported by Asics, Mikasa, Smart Sports, Summit, Team Rebel Sports, Belo Deo, Eurotel- Apo View Hotel, Batangas Country Club, Executive Optical, Baic Auto Philippines, SM Tickets and PusoP.com as technical partners.
The Lady Altas suffered a 16-25, 24-26, 17-25, defeat at the hands of the Blue Eagles last September 27 after a debut win over the Lady Stags.
Meanwhile, Shaina Nitura and the Adamson University Lady Falcons open their campaign against winless Jose Rizal University in Pool B at 2 p.m.
The Lady Falcons will be riding the crest of their National Invitationals Cebu Leg title conquest in their bid for another crown.
The Lady Bombers dropped their first two games against Far Eastern University and Arellano University.
Facing off at 12 p.m. are listless Pool A teams Emilio Aguinaldo College (0-2) and Lyceum of the Philippines University (0-1).
Pool C leader University of the Philippines (2-0) is the first team to secure a passage to the second phase.
