Thomas Markle, father of Meghan Markle, has clarified his status following widespread reports that he was left stranded after the powerful 6.9-magnitude earthquake that shook Cebu earlier this week.

Speaking exclusively to TMZ, Markle dismissed claims from his other daughter, Samantha, who suggested on X (formerly Twitter) that he was trapped and unable to walk on the 19th floor of his hotel.

“I’m safe in my hotel room, and in no way am I ‘trapped’ or ‘unable to walk,’” Markle said, explaining that the quake’s epicenter was “100 miles from here” and that his accommodations weren’t affected.

“I’m currently sitting on the couch in my hotel room, with my feet kicked up and watching Charlie Chan movies. I’m quite comfortable,” he added.

The 80-year-old retired Hollywood lighting director revealed he hasn’t spoken to Samantha and is unsure why she is publicly making such claims.

His comments underscore the ongoing family rift that has long been played out in public, particularly in relation to his estrangement from Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
