Actress and fashion icon Heart Evangelista revealed that she skipped the recent “Trillion Peso March” anti-corruption rally after receiving alarming threats to publicly humiliate her.
The large protest took place on Sunday, September 21, drawing crowds to Luneta Park and the EDSA People’s Power Monument to call out government corruption.
Many fans wondered why Evangelista, known for her outspoken views, was absent.
During an Instagram Live session on September 23, the wife of Senator Chiz Escudero explained her decision, saying she feared for her safety.

“Why wasn’t I in the rally? You think I didn’t want to be there? You think I don’t have a voice?” she asked viewers, her voice breaking. “I’m not in the rally because a lot of people said they would strip me if I went. How cruel can you be? What did I do? I have been nothing but a hardworking citizen.”
Evangelista stressed that her absence should not be mistaken for indifference. “For those questioning me — you think I don’t have a burning flame in my heart? That I have nothing to say? I have so many things to say because it is unfair,” she continued, describing the emotional toll of the threats.
Despite staying home, Evangelista expressed support for those who joined the march. She offered prayers for the nation and urged Filipinos to remain vigilant and vocal.
“I am praying for us all. May the Lord guide those in power to do what is right… Do not stay silent, speak up,” she said.
