Chess the Red Cross way slated in Koronadal on Oct. 18 to 19

A mutual and genuine endeavor aimed at promoting sport development and enhancing humanitarian effort has turned into reality in the form of Chess the Red Cross Way which begins on Oct. 18 to 19 at the South Cotabato Gymnasium and Cultural Center in Koronadal City.

Leading the two-day meet are One Chess Movement (OCM), Koronadal Chess Club, and Red Cross South Cotabato Chapter as they joined to create a platform that would serve as a springboard for local woodpushers as well as boost life-saving services including disaster response, health services and community assistance in the region.

The event that has the backing of South Cotabato Rep. Dinand Hernandez, Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. and Koronadal City Mayor Atty. Eliordo Ogena and Divine Lebanan will have four categories – the Red Cross Team Chess Open: Swiss Qualifiers & Championship Knockout (2055 and below), 13U Juniors Team, 18U Juniors Open, and Individual Open.

A decent champion’s purse will be given away for the top finishers with trophy and medals in several events and the runners-up wouldn’t be empty-handed as they are also set to receive consolation prizes.

Though the biggest is at Red Cross Team Chess Open which has a grand winner’s prize of P100,000 with honor and distinction.

There are P4,000 and medals await for top the congressional district, Top 1950 & below, and Top 1900 & below.

There will be a P5,000 (Onsite) or P4,000 (Online) registration fee, while 13U Juniors Team (P400), 18U Juniors Open (P200), and Individual Open (P300) also have their respective entry fees.

Registrations are open until Oct. 16 (payments for participation could be processed via Joselito Dormitorio’s Gcash account number (0949-374-1967).
