A Chinese national, who has been posing as a Filipino, and two of his countrymen have been arrested in Davao City, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced on Tuesday, Sept. 9.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony M. Viado identified them as Xu Yonglian, 38; Lin Jinxing, 42; and Cai Xiji, 44.

They were apprehended on Sept. 5 in a commercial building in a barangay in Davao City by operatives of the BI’s Intelligence Division and Regional Intelligence Operating Unit in coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Philippine Army, and the Philippine Air Force, Viado said.

He also said that Xu was found misrepresenting himself as a Filipino and has used a Filipino name in business dealings in the area despite holding a working visa petitioned by a company in Binondo, Manila.

He added that Lin was found holding only a tourist visa while Cai was also found holding a working visa for another company located in Manila.

“We will not allow illegal aliens to use the said scheme to remain in the country,” Viado added. (Jeffrey Damicog)
