The Philippine Consulate General in New York said three Filipinos, who were involved in a bus accident along Interstate 90 in western New York last week, have been discharged from the hospital.
In a statement on Monday morning, Aug. 25, the Consulate General said the Filipinos, who reside in Qatar and were touring New York, have been cleared to travel.
It added that a Consulate representative is set to meet the Filipinos to determine their needs and ensure their welfare until their scheduled departure.
Earlier reports confirmed that there were Filipinos among the casualties in the crash that killed five people, based on information relayed by New York State Police to the Consulate.
The Consulate said in a separate statement that it was “actively monitoring the situation” and was ready to assist victims and their families.
Authorities have yet to release additional details on the identities of the victims, citing privacy concerns.
The accident happened Friday afternoon (New York time) when a charter bus carrying 54 passengers veered off course, flipped on its side, and skidded along I-90 between Buffalo and Rochester. (Argyll Geducos)
