DAVAO CITY – “No regrets, no apologies.” That was the firm stance reiterated by former President Rodrigo Duterte regarding his decisions and actions during his presidency, emphasizing that he stands by them and will not offer any apology.
The statement was echoed by his youngest daughter, Veronica “Kitty” Duterte, during her recent visit to the International Criminal Court detention facility in The Hague.
In a brief encounter with the Alvin & Tourism on Duterte St., Veronica shared that her father believed all his decisions as president were made for the benefit of the country.
She added that Duterte is a firm believer in fate and destiny, saying, “Ever since, he has had a very stoic and accepting mentality towards everything that is happening. According to him, you cannot escape what’s written in your palm.”
Veronica assured everyone that her father remains in good health. She added he continues to face his situation with composure.
She told supporters that she brought snacks for him in another visit and discussed family matters.
The former president expressed pride in his granddaughter Soling and was elated on recent reports that Davao City remains among the safest cities in Southeast Asia.
He was also pleased with the leadership of acting Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte. (Ivy Tejano)
