TACLOBAN CITY – A 44-year-old housewife was stabbed by her son with a cockfighting blade or gaff during an altercation over a missing motorcycle key in Barangay Balagtas, Matag-ob, Leyte, on Thursday, August 14.
Police identified the victim as alias “Mary” and the suspect as alias “Brian,” 19, residents of the said barangay.
Authorities found the victim with blood oozing from the right side of her neck and a laceration on her right hand.
Initial investigation revealed that the suspect arrived at their residence allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
He searched for his motorcycle key but could not find it, leading to frustration and a heated argument with his mother.
During the altercation, the suspect physically assaulted the victim, then took the blade and stabbed her in the neck.
The victim attempted to block another attack with her hands, resulting in an additional stab wound to her right hand.
The suspect immediately fled the scene with the bladed weapon.
The victim was transported to Ormoc District Hospital for medical treatment.
Matag-ob police are conducting a follow-up investigation to locate and arrest the suspect.
