From the shadows of the editing suite to the director’s chair, Nikolas Red is finally taking center stage.
In “Posthouse,” his feature directorial debut under Viva Films and Evolve Studios, Nikolas delivers a psychological horror film that’s not just about ghosts and curses — it’s about film itself.
“Posthouse” follows Cyril (Sid Lucero) a troubled editor and his estranged daughter Rea (Bea Binene) as they attempt to restore a mysterious silent film — only to awaken a dark presence that refuses to stay on screen.

Cyril is haunted by the unsolved murder of his mother and the supernatural encounter tied to it.
When he and Rea begin restoring an old film titled “Ang Manananggal,” eerie events unfold — reels vanish, apparitions appear, and people begin to die.
The deeper they go into the restoration, the more the film bleeds into reality.
Sid found his character in the film strikingly familiar.

“I really liked it because I share similarities with Cyril. He also comes from a family working in the industry, and he has a daughter. It made the role more personal for me,” he said.
Bea, meanwhile, sees the project as a turning point.
“This is something different from the films that I did prior. Like I always say, gusto ko talaga na iba-iba ang ino-offer ko sa audiences. This role challenged me in new ways.”
Nikolas, best known for editing “Deleter” and “Eerie,” and co-writing “Dead Kids,” is no stranger to horror. But this time, he’s telling the story his way — though not without support.
Helping him behind the scenes is brother Mikhail Red, acclaimed director of “Birdshot” and “Deleter,” serving as creative producer.
“It was Nikolas all throughout,” said Mikhail. “We just helped bring his vision to life.”
Nikolas on his part said, “Nakakapanibago sa umpisa. I was really anxious more than anything. Pero it proved easier than expected. I’m thankful that I was surrounded by people who share my vision, great actors who gave their all for this project…They made everything a breeze for a newbie director like me.”
The film opens in cinemas nationwide August 20.
