The Taguig City Police have issued a warning against a cigarette called “Tuklaw,” which reportedly contains dangerously high levels of nicotine and potentially harmful substances.

The advisory follows an incident on August 1 near an elementary school in Barangay Central Signal, where a man suffered seizure-like symptoms after smoking a “Tuklaw” cigarette handed to him by two motorcycle riders.

Officers from Police Substation 6, along with personnel from the City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit, responded to the scene and transported the victim to Taguig District Hospital for treatment.

Police emphasized the serious risks of accepting cigarettes or unknown substances from strangers, particularly in public areas.

“The so-called ‘Tuklaw’ may contain harmful or illegal compounds that can trigger immediate and severe health reactions, or worse, lead to long-term psychological or physical damage,” police said.

Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any similar incidents or suspicious individuals to local law enforcement. (Jonathan Hicap)
