The Philippine women ultimate frisbee team stamped its class and dismantled China’s Shenzhen Haikey, 14-3, to reign supreme in the 2025 Hong Kong Championship at the Sha Tin Sports Ground recently.

The Binibinis started hot, racing to a commanding 7-1 halftime lead which proved enough to disarm their rivals – thanks to the stellar performance of Ysa Chua.

Before their title conquest, the Nationals swept the Group A elims where they demolished the likes of Shenzen (8-1), JINGHU (10-2), and Everglow (9-5).

They followed it up with rousing triumphs over Tiger Dragon (13-1) and host and eventual bronze winner Hong Kong (10-4) in the quarterfinal and semifinal, respectively.

With their dominant run, the Filipinas also bagged the Most Spirited Award.

Gwen Maghuyop served as a spirit captain, while Chua was the skipper of the team which was guided by coach Jordan Mirafilez and team manager Katrina Torres.

Also members of the crew are Joyce Reroma, April Adalim, Ma. Charisma Bautista, Katzen Oliva, Christine Absin, Iris Luague, Mary Grace Larisca, Alex Sarsaba, Mavie Diputado, Zashi Pelegrino Smith, Chelsey Aquino, Kristel Cornel, Tristine Manlosa, Coreen Villanueva, Lovely Garcia, Stella Escasa and Daphne Schneider.

Last week, the Pilipinas Ultimate capped off its flawless run in the men’s category with a 15-7 beatdown on Team Flash in the final through the brilliance of Jesster Selda and Kent Valenzuel.

Like the Binibinis, the male side went undefeated as well before entering the championship round.
