Alas Pilipinas might have fallen short of a podium finish but won in the contest that mattered most for Filipina beauties like Leila Cruz.
The beautiful spiker of the Capital1 in the PVL caught everybody’s fancy and took home the Ms. VTV Cup at the conclusion of this year’s International Women’s Volleyball Cup at the Vinh Phuc Gymnasium in Vietnam over the weekend.
The 25-year-old Cruz earned the nod of the judges and spectators as the most charming hitter in the week-long meet, beating Alas teammate Vanie Gandler.
But her win was not a shocker anymore as she was focused many times whether Cruz was on or off the court.
Aside from the crown and trophy, Cruz brought home $1,500 (around P84,000).
The 6-foot-1 outside hitter was one of the pivotal keys in the Nationals’ campaign on Vietnamese soil, helping the squad to its fourth-place finish.
They, however, lost to Chinese Taipei, 17-25, 24-26, 22-25, in their battle-for-third duel.
