Alex Eala’s Wimbledon campaign continues as she teams up with Germany’s Eva Lys in the Ladies’ Doubles at the 2025 Championships.

The unseeded pair is scheduled to take the court on Thursday night, July 3 (Philippine time), against Ingrid Martins and Quinn Gleaso, who were late alternates to Olga Danilovic and Anastasia Potapova.

Both Eala and Lys have already wrapped up their singles runs. Lys bowed out in the second round after a tough three-set battle with 30th seed Linda Noskova, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3, while Eala lost in the first round to Czech defending champion Barbora Krejcikova, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.

The Wimbledon doubles marks a debut for both Eala and Lys as a pair, although each has competed their first Grand Slam doubles in the French Open with different partners.

Ahead of their doubles match, Eala took a moment to reflect on her singles debut.

“Realized something funny yesterday — when you’re living your dream, it doesn’t feel real,” Eala wrote in a heartfelt social media post.
“Yesterday, I was living my dream. Couldn’t have asked for a better debut. That match was special in more ways than one — to be able to fulfill a childhood dream and be part of something bigger than myself, history for my country,” she added.

Eala also congratulated Krejcikova.

“It was an honor to share the court with you,” she said.

Adding to the recognition, global sports brand Nike—Eala’s sponsor—paid tribute to the world No. 56 on Wednesday, July 2, following her historic Wimbledon appearance.

The brand also gifted her a symbolic “Sampaguita” hair tie, referencing the Philippines’ national flower.

“The sampaguita is a flower that holds its own. And so does Alex Eala. A lifetime in the making. A nation behind her. The first Filipina to break onto the green,” Nike’s social media post read.
