Oscar winners among spectators in Eala-Krejcikova Wimbledon first-round duel

Some of the world’s biggest stars have descended upon the Wimbledon Championships and were part of the curious spectators to the thrilling battle at the Centre Court where Filipina rising star Alex Eala challenged defending champion Barbora Krejcikova of Czech Republic.

Though Eala failed to pull the rug from under her seasoned opponent, 6-3, 2-6, 1-6, the 20-year-old Filipina surely made head turns on the second day of the contest where Hollywood A-listers served as witnesses.

Part of the crowd were Oscar winners Cate Blanchett and Russell Crowe while Rebel Wilson, actor Jason Isaacs, fencer Miles Chamley-Watson, and model Mia Regan among other who were also present at All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club

Meanwhile, members of the British Royal Family graced the first day with Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, making a rare appearance to the royal box after so many years, alongside her daughter Princess Beatrice.

Ferguson was a close friend of the late Princess Diana who she was with when she attended Wimbledon games back in the day.

Speaking of royalty, no less than the late Queen Elizabeth II and her son Prince Charles had previously watched the oldest tennis tournament in the world.

Notable English footballer David Beckham, actors Jessica Alba, Eddie Redmayne, Isla Fisher, and Simu Liu were there on the first day, as well as five-time Grand Slam winner Maria Sharapova, who once reigned in Wimbledon 21 years ago.

Many celebrities and notable personalities sightings are expected for the coming days of the competition.

Despite her early exit in the prestigious meet, the 20-year-old Eala will earn a staggering £66,000 or around P5 million pesos.
