There’s a hush in the way Janine Gutierrez carries herself these days—gentle, grounded, a little more present. It’s the kind of quiet that comes from having loved deeply, and lost.
In the span of weeks last April, Janine bid goodbye to two icons who were also her grandmothers—Pilita Corrales and Nora Aunor. Not long after, her uncle, veteran actor Ricky Davao, passed too.
“It’s still a difficult time for the family,” she shared. “It all happened so fast. One after the other.”
The grief, while heavy, has also sharpened her sense of what matters most: presence, compassion, and the everyday choice to care.

“Life is short,” Janine said. “Enjoy your loved ones while they’re still around. Make time. Be there.”
Care, for Janine, is more than comfort—it’s commitment. It shows up in how she navigates her relationship with actor Jericho Rosales (“He’s super maalaga”), and in how she approaches her own health.
“I can be a little praning,” she laughed. “If something feels off, I go to the doctor right away. You can’t help anyone if you’re not okay yourself.”
That same belief led her to quietly take on a role as ambassador for iCare, a healthcare provider.

“When you get sick, everything stops,” she said. “Health isn’t optional—it’s foundational.”
In a year marked by loss, Janine has turned inward, choosing to live with more tenderness and intention. Grief may have changed her, but it has also made one thing clear: caring—whether for others or for herself—is not just something she does. It’s who she is.
