FIDE Master (FM) Christian Gian Karlo Arca impressed anew as he outshone his foreign rivals to reign supreme in the 2025 Quang Ninh M1 chess tournament in Halong, Vietnam Thursday, June 12.
The 16-year-old Arca tallied 6 points out of a possible 9 points, a performance highlighted by reaching a live rating of 2409.
The feat enabled Arca to gain 13.2 ELo rating, enough for him to complete his International Master status. He earlier gained a 69.2 ELO rating by winning a round robin tournament in Davao del Norte last month.
But his application for IM would still be tackled during FIDE General Assembly.
IM Farid Firman Syah of Indonesia finished second with 5.5 points followed by FM Jett Jain of India.
