Defending champion University of Perpetual Help hopes to start strongly when it battles Arellano University in Game 1 of their title series in the NCAA Season100 Juniors Indoor Volleyball Championship at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City, Friday, May 30.

The Junior Lady Altas face off with the Baby Chiefs at 8 a.m. with the Las Piñas-based school looking for a repeat against the very school they defeated last season.

Last year, Perpetual swept Arellano, 2-0, in a best-of-three championship.

Out to lead the Junior Lady Altas are Jaja San Juan, Sherrie Rose Acosta, Maya Javier, middle blockers Isabel Baser and Ashlee Buenaventura and sisters Jasmine Monte (setter) and Janie Espiritu (libero).

The Junior Altas are also hoping to do the same against the Letran Squires when they clash at 5 p.m.

Coach Sandy Rieta is eager to bring the Junior Altas to the Promised Land after he and the Lady Altas fell short in their bid to make it to the playoffs, finishing with a 9-9 mark.

He’s banking on Charles Concina, Nathan Ciriaco, Kirby Alecida, Gabirel Macatuno, Zyro Ornos, Resty Santos, Miguel Dela Cruz and John Lat.
