Quezon City, Philippines (May 21, 2025) — The Motorcycle Taxi Community Alliance of the Philippines has filed a formal appeal with the Motorcycle Taxi Technical Working Group (TWG), seeking the reversal of a recent order that threatens to halt MOVE IT operations in Metro Manila, Cebu, and Cagayan de Oro.

Personally submitted by Alliance Chairperson Romeo Maglunsod at the LTFRB headquarters, the letter warns that the directive puts the livelihoods of some 14,000 rider-partners at risk. Many of these riders rely solely on MOVE IT for income, the group emphasized.

The alliance also called out the TWG’s decision-making process, highlighting the absence of any prior consultation with affected riders or the commuting public.

The group further urged the TWG to recalibrate its priorities and center its policies on the welfare of riders and commuters. Without reconsideration, the alliance warned, the order could disrupt a vital mode of urban transport and displace thousands of professional motorcycle taxi drivers across the country.
