ONE Championship striking star Islay Erika Bomogao is shifting her focus toward the IFMA World Championships as she represents the Philippines in Muay Thai next month in Turkey.

Preparing for that event, Bomogao and the rest of the Philippine National Muay Thai Team spent a month at Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket, where the 24-year-old experienced some of the most “intense” training sessions she’s ever had.

“Super intense but it’s rewarding. The atmosphere was highly motivating too because of the top-notch facilities and awesome people,” Bomogao said.

“The training itself was world-class, with incredible trainers who were very open to collaborating with my coaches. I was able to get personalized attention and a tailored training program. I enjoyed everything, really.”

The gym has produced some of the best strikers in the division, including #4-ranked bantamweight Muay Thai contender Felipe Lobo, the prodigious Ramadan Ondash, and Lethwei legend Vero.

It’s also home to two of the most lethal MMA strikers in the promotion in two-division MMA World Champion Anatoly Malykhin and bantamweight king Fabricio Andrade.

Bomogao maximized her time in the camp, making the most out of this opportunity, also utilizing it for her own personal growth in ONE Championship.

“This camp has a double purpose. It’s for my participation in the world championship and my future ONE Lumpinee fights,” she said.

With that in mind, she promises to refocus on her rise in ONE Championship when she returns from the World Championships next month.

“I am brimming with energy and excitement,” she said. “This eagerness I feel is not just about the fight itself, but also about the culmination of my hard work and perseverance.”
