The Department of Justice (DOJ) has scheduled a preliminary investigation into the inciting to sedition and grave threats charges filed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) against Vice President Sara Duterte.
Duterte was charged over the reported threats she made in November 2024 against President Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
DOJ Prosecutor General Richard Anthony D. Fadullon confirmed on Wednesday, April 30, that the panel of prosecutors has issued a subpoena to Duterte to appear on May 9 and 16.
In a press conference last November, Duterte said that, in the event she dies, she has already instructed someone to kill the President, the first lady, and Romualdez.
She was also reported to have said that her statement was not a joke.
The NBI conducted a probe that led to the filing of the charges before the DOJ.
VP Sara herself revealed that she has been summoned by Office of the Prosecutor based on the NBI charges, but she did not mention if she plans to answer the summons. (Jeffrey Damicog, with a report from Raymund Antonio)
