Kazakhstan’s Zhetysu VC resumed its dominant ways and eliminated PLDT via a 25-13, 25-22, 25-20 win to punch its semifinal ticket in the 2025 AVC Women’s Volleyball Champions League at the Philsports Arena Thursday, April 24.
Despite the High Speed Hitters getting off to a strong start in the third set, Zhetysu made a series of counters, similar in the prior frames, with Tatyana Nikitina and Karyna Denisova leading the way to prevail in their quarterfinal knockout duel that lasted for just 69 minutes.
Zhetysu, which was a nine-time ruler in the Kazakh pro tournament, remained unscathed and advanced to the semis Saturday, April 26, where it awaits for its foe which is either Creamline or Thailand’s Nakhon Ratchasima Qmin C.
The Cool Smashers and Nakhon tangle in the quarters later Thursday.
PLDT, which was the late entry in the event, ended its campaign with a 1-2 mark.
Still in title hunt is Petro Gazz which is set to face the still undefeated China’s Beijing BAIC Motor on Friday, April 25,.
Nikitina listed 19 points built on 14 attacks, four blocks, and one ace to pace Zhetysu.
Savannah Davison led PLDT by unloading 13 points on 12 kills and one block whileWilma Salas added 11 points. Dell Palomata shone brightest for the locals with seven points.
