Dominic Orjalo is a huge movie fan.

His favorite genre? Science fiction.

“Pero hindi lang basta science fiction ha? Gusto ko yung kakaiba yung istorya. Gusto ko din yung maganda yung special effects,” he told us.

Dominic has since ventured into filmmaking, producing “Lisik Origin Point,” a horror, sci-fi outing under his own Domniel International Film Productions.

“Napili ko ito as my first production bilang fan ako ng ‘World War Z’ ni Brad Pitt,” he said.

“Lisik Origin Point” tells the story of students trapped in a school following a zombie outbreak.

Dominic revealed, “Umabot sa 10 million pesos ang gastos ko sa pelikulang ito.”

Apparently, production was marred by difficulties.

“Nakailang director ako na hihingi lang ng budget pero hindi naman nakakapag-deliver,” he related.

Thankfully, he was introduced to John Renz Cahilig, a young director who has a knack for visual effects.

“Si John lang ang nakabuo ng pelikulang gusto ko,” said Dominic. “I’m so proud with what we accomplished in ‘Lisik Origin Point.’”

Note the film is devoid of big stars, with both Dominic and John opting for virtual unknowns to play important roles.

These include Nika de Guzman, Grace Rosas Tayo and Jeremiah Allera, who are all first time actors sans experience.

John maintained, “The important thing for us is that they were able to execute. They were all quite convincing playing their respective roles. We couldn’t ask for more.”

Dominic, John and the the film’s casts are hoping “Lisik Origin Point” will enjoy support from moviegoers.

“We did all that we can to come up with a great film,” intoned Dominic. “I just hope viewers will give it a chance.”

“Lisik Origin Point” hits theaters Feb. 19 as distributed by PinoyFlix.
