3 boxing title fights slated next year in Cebu

CEBU CITY – A mega boxing card that will feature three championship fights will usher in the year 2025 here.

Spearheaded by sportsman Dr. Winley Dela Fuente of OX KBDF Gaming Promotions in collaboration with the World Boxing Organization (WBO), the “Binukbukay sa Sugbo” will be held on Feb. 8 next year at the NUSTAR Resort and Casino.

Three WBO regional belts will be at stake in the card where elite boxers from China, South Korea, Japan, and the Philippines will see action.

The main event will see South Korea’s Jong Seon Kang (20W-1L-2D, 11KOs) try to defend his WBO Global featherweight title against former Japanese Boxing Commission (JBC) super bantamweight king Ryuto Owan (13-2, 8KOs)

Chinese fighter and PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions’  Yeerjialahasi Laayibieke (10-2, 7KOs) will be defending his WBO Oriental super featherweight  against Cebu’s Rodex Piala (10-1, 1KO) of the ARQ Boxing Stable.

In an equally intriguing fight, former world title challenger and WBO regional champion Genesis “Azukal” Servania (35-4, 16 KOs) will mark his return to the ring against China’s Aketelieti Yelejian (9-4-1, 2KOs) for the WBO Oriental lightweight title.

Dela Fuente said putting up the fight card symbolizes his passion for boxing.

Dela Fuente said his entry into professional boxing is driven by his passion to further bring Philippine boxing to greater heights.
