Alex Eala overpowers rival in Palma de Rio tournament

Alex Eala rebounded from an early exit the last time by crushing wildcard bet Lorena Solar Donoso of Spain, 6-3, 6-2, in the W40 Palma del Rio International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournament on Monday (Tuesday, June 27, in Manila) in Spain.

The sixth-seeded Eala overpowered her rival in almost facets of the game to win convincingly a week after she absorbed a 6-1, 6-2 beating at the hands of  Australian Destanee Aiava in the W25+H Tauste-Zaragoza International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournament.

“Good start!” Eala posted on social media shortly after the victory.

The win arranged Eala a meeting with the winner between Hong Kong’s Adithya Karunaratne and Australia’s Talia Gibson.

The 18-year-old Eala aims to follow up her title victory in the W25 Yecla also in Spain early this month.

Another title for Eala in this tournament would give her a fourth pro title.
