Woman dies in Paco fire

A woman died in a fire that struck a residential area in Paco, Manila early Wednesday morning.

The Bureau of Fire Protection-National Capital Region (BFP-NCR) identified the fatality as Loida Reyes Decayman, 54, owner of the three-story residential building where the blaze originated.

A still unidentified woman was also injured in the fire, the BFP-NCR said.

According to the BFP-NCR report, the fire broke out at the ground floor of the building located on P. Burgos Zamora in Paco at around 4:33 a.m.

The fire was put out by responding firefighters at 8:50 a.m..

At least 100 families were affected by the blaze, according to the report.

Investigators said the fire destroyed at least 50 structures in the area. (Minka Tiangco)
