COTABATO CITY – A suspected drug den operator was killed while his four other cohorts were arrested during an anti-drug operation launched by government’s anti-narcotics operatives in Datu Odin Sinsualt, Maguindanao last Friday.
Juvenal Azurin, regional chief of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, said Angkino Mamalangkas was killed after he resisted arrest when PDEA operatives stormed a suspected drug den he operated at SPDA Semba in Datu Odin Sinsuat.
“The raiding team shot the suspect after he tried to lob a fragmentation grenade at them,” Azurin said.
Azurin said the slain suspect was listed as a high-value drug personality in Maguindanao.
He said the suspect’s cohorts identified as Saidamen Sanday Mutalib, Johaimir Lumenda Utto, Edito Bañas dela Cruz, and Salipudin Tasil Maslamama were also arrested.
The raiding lawmen seized some 15 grams of suspected shabu worth P100,000, a fragmentation grenade, and assorted drug paraphernalia.
Charges for illegal possession of prohibited drugs and visiting a drug den have been filed against the arrested suspects. (Joseph Jubelag)
