Sen. Lito Lapid introduced a bill changing Del Monte Avenue in Quezon City to Fernando Poe Jr. Avenue.

Why Del Monte?

Well, FPJ grew up in Del Monte, where the studio built by his father is located. The studio is still there, where all of FPJ’s movies are kept.

But a priest, Fr. Cielo R. Almazan, objects since Del Monte has a great historical value.

Fr. Almazan, however, says FPJ deserves a street named after him in QC. He suggests West Avenue.

Or why not Timog Avenue, where GMA and the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board are located?

Really, it’s about time QC honors FPJ by naming a street after him.

All QC officials should support the move, especially those with showbiz connections.

Talking about Vice Mayor Gian Sotto and Reps. Alfred Vargas and Precious Hipolito.

FPJ is not only the King of Philippine Cinema. He is also a National Artist and “the unproclaimed President of the Philippines.”

Needless to say, the entire movie industry supports the move.

The late Manila Mayor Fred Lim had erected FPJ’s statue along Roxas Boulevard.

Former Gov. (and now Senator) Imee Marcos had placed FPJ’s statue in the sand dunes of Paoay, Ilocos Norte, where “Ang Panday” was shot.

Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur were the favorite location sites of FPJ, showing its magnificent churches and other historical landmarks.
