15 NPA rebels surrender in Bukidnon

BUTUAN CITY – Fifteen members of the New People’s Army (NPA) on Wednesday deserted their camp and surrendered to the Army’s 88th Infantry (Maringal) Battalion (88th IB) in Bukidnon, military said.

Civil Military Operations (CMO) officer Capt. Norven Jay Garcia said the rebels belong to Malayag 1 of Guerilla Front Malayag, Sub- Regional Committee 2 of the CPP-NPA North central Mindanao Regional Committee under certain “Ka Ricky” operating in the areas of Cabanglasan, Bukidnon.

“They yielded to the government because of hunger, tired of misery and scared when their comrade died and abandoned by their own comrades-in-arms,” said Garcia. (Mike Crismundo)
