UAAP ‘high flyers’ vie at stay-at-home dunk contest

Thirdy Ravena, Juan Gomez de Liaño and Jamie Malonzo, three of the exciting players in last year’s UAAP, will face off in the first stay-at-home slam dunk contest on Saturday (June 27).

The event dubbed “Home Jam: Dunkers Only” showdown hope to quench the thirst of sports fans who have been longing for action during the quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The contest, hosted by National University’s Shaun Ildefonso, will be streamed live on ABS-CBN Sports Facebook and Instagram accounts at 2 pm.

Kobe Paras, two-time FIBA 3×3 Under-18 dunk champion, and NorthPort’s Robert Bolick are the judges in the event.

The event will have a three-round format with Ravena and De Liaño already showed glimpse of their practice as seen on social media recently.

The former Ateneo standout will take his act in Japan after signing with San-En Neophoenix in the Japan B. League, the ball club announced Wednesday.

De Liaño and Malonzo, from University of the Philippines and De La Salle, suited up under Marinerong Pilipino in the suspended 2020 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup.
