90 families lose homes in QC fire

Ninety families were rendered homeless while 40 houses were destroyed in fire that hit a residential area in Barangay Tatalon, Quezon City yesterday.

Bureau of Fire Protection-Quezon City fire marshal Senior Supt. Jaime Ramirez said the blaze started on the second floor of the three-story house owned by Matina Eringo on Area 5, Purok 2, Victory Ave. at around 11:39 a.m.

The fire immediately reached first and second alarm at 11:44 a.m. The fire, which reached fifth alarm at 12:01 p.m., immediately spread as adjacent houses were made of light materials.

The fire lasted for more than an hour after it was declared under control by firemen at 12:46 p.m.

No injuries or casualties were reported while the estimated damage from the fire was pegged at P150,000. Arson probers have yet to determine the cause of the fire. (Alexandria San Juan)
