Radio and TV personality Erwin Tulfo has expressed willingness to yield his firearms after the Philippine National Police ordered their recall Thursday, PNP spokesperson Police Col. Bernard Banac said yesterday.
Banac said they are positive Tulfo will adhere to the order of the PNP-Firearms and Explosives Office to submit his guns for temporary safekeeping after his License to Own and Possess Firearms expired in May.
Banac said that after the PNP-FEO sent a formal letter to Tulfo last Thursday ordering him to surrender his firearms, his camp coordinated with them for the renewal of his LTOPF.
“Nagpahayag na po ang kampo ni Mr. Erwin Tulfo ng kanilang intensyon ng renewal at nakahanda naman po ang Firearms and Explosives Office na umalalay sa renewal ng kanyang LTOPF,” Banac said.
But Banac said Tulfo has yet to surrender his firearms.
Police Brig. Gen. Valeriano de Leon, PNP-FEO director, at least seven firearms were registered under Tulfo’s name.
The PNP has not given Tulfo a deadline to surrender of his guns but Banac said they expect he will immediately follow the recall order. (Martin Sadongdong)
