Former Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) player Mark “MacMac” Cardona was apprehended after he allegedly stabbed his live-in partner during an alleged altercation inside their condominium unit yesterday morning in Makati City.

Senior Supt. Gerardo Umayao, Makati City police chief said Cardona was trying to settle a personal issue with 25-year-old parther Bianca Nicole Jackes but reportedly ended in a heated exchange.

“Apparently, Cardona is head over heels with Ms. Jacket as he had a history of attempted suicide because of their relationship,” said Umayao.

But Jackes through her Instagram post denied news reports about a supposed altercation between him and Cardona.

“There was no argument that happened, Mark went there, high on drugs, trying to get back with me and I refused,” was what Jackes posted on Instagram “I didn’t even yell after getting stabbed because I didn’t want to wake up my kids. All I did was try to calm him down.”

It was Cardona himself who rushed Jackes to the Makati Medical Center. A few hours later, police arrested Cardona who did not resist arresting officers.

Early this year, Cardona was embroiled in another controversy after allegedly pawning a P300,000 stolen sport utility vehicle which has been alerted to the Philippine National Police’s Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG).

Cardona pawned a Subaru Forester with plate number NIR-780 to the victim, Michelle Bautista Flores, 32, of Orambo Drive, Pasig City on November 13, 2017.

The vehicle was reported stolen by a certain Jarwin Daid Lim Uy on September 14, 2017. Uy reportedly sold the vehicle to a car dealer who failed to pay him.

Flores then sought help in a television show to run after the former cager. (Jel Santos)
