TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan — Police arrested a 55‑year‑old Indian national facing an estafa case during the service of a warrant in Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya, on Thursday, Aug. 20.
The suspect, identified as alias Sukhjit, a widower and businessman from Kala Sanghian, Kapurthala, India, has been residing in Barangay Banggot, Bambang.
Authorities said he was apprehended around 6 p.m. by virtue of a warrant issued on July 8, 2026, by the Regional Trial Court, Second Judicial Region, Branch 29 in Bayombong.
The arrest was carried out by Bambang Police Station personnel in coordination with other Philippine National Police (PNP) units.
The suspect was placed under custody for legal proceedings.
Police Brig. Gen Mariano C. Rodriguez, director of Police Regional Office 2 (PRO 2), stressed the police force’s continuing drive to locate and arrest wanted persons.
“The operation was conducted in accordance with established procedures and is part of PRO 2’s efforts against individuals facing criminal charges and with active warrants of arrest,” Rodriguez said. (Freddie G. Lazaro)
