Police seized around ₱3.57 million worth of shabu and arrested two high-value individuals (HVIs) in a buy-bust operation in Sampaloc, Manila, the Manila Police District (MPD) reported on Tuesday, Aug. 18.

The operation was carried out at around 3:20 a.m. on Aug. 14 inside a house on Maria Cristina Street in Barangay 455, Zone 45, Sampaloc.

Arrested were 68-year-old Guillermo Manguerra, alias “Bida/Bebot,” and 53-year-old Arlene Lorenzo, alias “Beng,” both residents of the area.

According to the MPD, authorities recovered 525 grams of shabu from the two with a standard drug price value of approximately ₱3.57 million.

Police said the suspects attempted to evade arrest by jumping from the second floor of the house.

Manguerra sustained injuries to both legs and was later brought to a hospital for medical treatment.

Lorenzo remains detained at the MPD Drug Enforcement Unit custodial facility and is facing charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
