A new face but a veteran in the industry will be in the driver’s seat for the Terrafirma Dyip.
Ronald Tubid will make his foray to PBA coaching after being named as the new head coach of Terrafirma, replacing Raymond Tiongco who served as the team top tactician on an interim basis.
Tiongco took over the head coaching role in the last two conferences and since the departure of former coach Johnedel Cardel.
Tubid, who served as the Dyip team manager, after a 16-year career, will be the man at the helm for Terrafirma which committed to stay in the league for its 50th season after two botched attempts to sell its franchise last season.
The move came just a week after the trade moratorium on Terrafirma was lifted and then sent the rights of Javi Gomez de Liano to Magnolia in exchange for Jerrick Ahanmisi.
Tubid also played for the Dyip franchise as part of the Christian Standhardinger trade in 2017. He won nine championships in his stints with Shell, Air21, Ginebra, Barako Bull and San Miguel.
The 43-year-old, known as a hard nose defender during his heyday, will have his first order of business when he selects the first overall pick of the 2025 PBA draft.
